Fundraising
Each team member is
encouraged to raise $150 or more for their team effort. Therefore, if a
team has 12 members, they should aim to raise $1800.

Resources o American Cancer Society - Fundraising Guidebook (pdf, 4,233KB) - from the ACS, this 32 page guidebook is a goldmine of ideas, information, and more about everything to do with fundraising, much of which is also relevant here in Australia. Fundraising Ideas
Fundraising Tip of the Week #1
A great
way to raise money is to give people something in return - an 'experience' -
they would be interested in even if it weren't raising money for a good cause.
Here's a couple of ideas:
Sun Theatre, Yarraville
o Choose the size theatre you like,
o Choose the film from the program 3 months ahead
o Choose the option, eg, movie only, or plus choc-top, or plus glass
of champagne, or plus catering, etc
o Get your friends there to enjoy a great film at the beautiful Sun
Theatre!!

Guest Speaker
We all
know someone with an amazing story, adventure, experience or accomplishment.
They're fascinating and amazingly inspiring and motivating to listen to. So if
you think so, so would others.
o Locate a great speaker (to talk for free)
o Decide on a date and venue
o Try to get some door prizes to give away
o Get your friends and others to come along and be inspired
Preview Performances
Usually
shows will have preview performances just before opening night. Usually just
as good as the 'real thing'...but you can probably get some tickets cheaply.
Sell these to friends to make it a great fundraiser.
A
similar thing might work with exhibitions and galleries. Give them a try.
Fundraising Tip of the Week #2
Relay For Life teams around Victoria will
raise over $3 million this year. Here tips from the most successful
fundraising teams:
o Start learning the
fundraising business on smaller events like raffles and movie nights and then
graduate to one major and a couple of smaller events for the year.
o Keep telling the story of
why your team is so passionate about Relay For Life.
o Recruit a lot of people
and ask them to do just a little.
o Keep in touch with
everyone who supports you and let them know how your team fared.
o Recruit people who are
passionate about making a difference in their community.
o Begin planning next year's
event the month after this year's event has finished. Take advantage of the
'high' people are feeling from the fun and success they shared.
o Develop strong community
links and maintain them so that these people will keep supporting your team.
Hold a Chocolate Drive
Visit http://www.cadbury.com.au/fundraising/ for details on how you can raise money selling lots of yummy products including Natural Confectionary Company lollies, Freddo Frogs, Cherry Ripes and Chupa Chups.
Play Lawn Bowls
Get your family and friends together for a day of bowling, be it in the alley or on the bowling green. Williamstown Bowling Club charges $8 per head to bowl. Why not get a group together and charge everyone $20 to participate. Do
